2015 calendar available for sale beginning early November
Lancaster, PA (October 29, 2014) – Lancaster-based non-profit United Disabilities Services (UDS), along with Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, is releasing its 2015 calendar to support the UDS Service Dogs program. (A heartwarming gift for dog and hockey lovers alike)
UDS hopes to raise $10,000 for the program which provides the extensive training needed to transform ordinary dogs into extraordinary sources of physical and emotional support for people with disabilities.
The 2015 UDS-Hershey Bears calendar features dozens photos of Hershey Bears players along with team mascot Coco enjoying time with 20 UDS service dogs and puppies. New to this year’s calendar will be the introduction of our four Labrador Retriever puppies enrolled in our TAILS (Pups in Prison) program. This program is a partnership between UDS Service Dogs and State Correctional Institution Pine Grove, Indiana, PA.
With the holidays approaching, the calendar is a terrific gift for those who want to show support for this amazing program. We are so grateful to the Hershey Bears for everything they do to make this fundraiser possible, said Lori Breece, UDS Service Dogs Program Manager.
Fundraising initiatives are critical to sustaining the UDS Service Dogs Program. Over the course of their first two years, the cost to train and raise a service dog can reach up to $25,000. The Hershey Bears hockey team has partnered with UDS in promoting and selling the calendars since 2003.
“The Hershey Bears organization has enjoyed our 12 year partnership with UDS,“ said Doug Yingst, President and GM of the Hershey Bears. “All players and staff look forward to helping them raise awareness and funds through their annual calendar sale.”
Calendars cost $10 each and will be available at Giant Center at the Bears’ November 8th and 9th home games against Hartford Wolf Pack. The calendar will be sold throughout the season at Giant Center, online at udservices.org.synapseresults.com and www.wgal.com, and at the UDS Holiday Gift Wrap Booth at Park City Center during the holiday shopping season.
In addition to the Hershey Bears, UDS thanks printing partner Huggins Printing of Harrisburg for their continued support of the fundraising initiative.
