Volunteer with People with Disabilities

Home > Get Involved > Volunteer

Volunteer with UDSF and give your time to a valuable cause.

Your generous gift of time, energy, and love can have an important impact on deserving people in your community. When you volunteer for UDSF, you help make it possible for us to better serve the needs of seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities.

Without volunteers, many of the important services provided by UDSF wouldn’t be possible. Volunteers also play a key role in educating the community about the needs of individuals with disabilities and creating awareness of the many services UDSF offers.

Please note that we typically only need volunteers in Lancaster and Schuylkill counties.

One of our most popular programs, the Challenger Football and Cheerleading League, provides youth the opportunity to compete in a competitive flag football program or to be part of an enthusiastic cheering squad. Participants learn new skills and have an opportunity to increase their physical activity and gain new friendships. Volunteer opportunities range from partnering with a player, helping to set-up and tear down the field, and encouraging the participants throughout the season.

Vol Gala

Help us for an evening of fun each year in May for our Annual Gala. In order to make this evening run smoothly, we typically need around 30 volunteers to assist our guests. Can’t volunteer on the night of the event?  We have preperation work that we need to accomplish prior to the gala that requires all hands on deck. Let us know what you are best at and we can find a place for you at our event.

GWB

The UDS Gift Wrap Booth at Park City Center is a long standing tradition and a large part of the UDS fundraising program. The booth is open from the end of November through late December and has helped us raise over a half million dollars in support since its inception.

Volunteers have taken the lead with this fundraising opportunity for over 50 years. It takes approximately 500 volunteers to staff the booth throughout the season.

Volunteers help by:

  • Set-up/tear down of booth
  • Daily Cashiers
  • Wrapping Gifts

This is a great opportunity for both individuals and groups!

All wrappers get will get “on-the-job” training to learn gift wrapping tips and tricks.

Join in the spirit of the holiday season and help UDS raise funds to continue our mission to enhance the lives of the aging and people with disabilities.

Adult Enrichment provides participants the opportunity to socialize, learn, share their gifts and talents, gain valuable life skills, and explore the community. Our program and community activities are focused around each individual’s interests and goals. Above everything else, we are a community of friends who have fun together, support one another, and share in each other’s challenges and triumphs.

We are always looking for guest speakers or event assistance. This is an amazing group of individuals who show us each day that there is ABILITY in all of us.

If you have a hobby, skill or special knowledge that you would like to speak about, please contact us!

vol Photo

We are always looking for photographers to help us document our events or obtain marketing photos. If you are a professional or amateur photographer who would like to help us out, please let us know.
