ADA Accessible Home Plans

Accessible Solutions Brokerage (ASB) is a non-profit organization that manages home modification services for participants’ Community HealthChoices healthcare plans. ASB also provides design and project management services to organizations that need to provide enhanced accessibility in the homes of their clientele.

If you or your Supports Coordinator requests a home modification, ASB will meet with you to assess your needs, make recommendations, and gather the information they need in order to evaluate your request. ASB will be your single point of contact for each step of the home modification process.

How Does It Work?

An Accessibility Designer from ASB will meet with you in your home to perform a detailed assessment. They will gather information about your needs, evaluate your home, and determine the feasibility of the requested modifications. They will also discuss what options are available for meeting your health and safety needs within the parameters of your healthcare plan.

If you’re interested in moving forward with one of the Accessibility Designer’s options, ASB will create ADA accessible home plans for you to review and approve. The ASB team will then create a detailed report for your healthcare plan and, if applicable, work with your landlord to obtain their approval on the modifications.

ASB will then oversee a competitive bidding process using in-network contractors. The ASB team will select a winning bidder and send this information to your healthcare plan for their review. If your healthcare plan approves the project, ASB will work with the selected contractor to schedule the project. They’ll also oversee the work to ensure it’s completed in a timely manner and with quality outcomes. Upon completion of the project, ASB staff will schedule an on-site inspection with you and your contractor.

In the event that you’re unsatisfied with ASB’s design solutions, or if your healthcare plan denies your project, you may file an appeal with your healthcare plan. Your Supports Coordinator can provide information on the appeals process and how to initiate it.

Staff and Network Providers You Can Trust

All of ASB’s staff and network providers undergo thorough background checks, including child abuse clearances, state police background checks, and FBI fingerprinting prior to entering a client’s home.

Choosing a Contractor

In order for your home modifications to be funded by your healthcare plan, the project will need to be completed by in-network contractors. These contractors receive thorough background checks and carry the appropriate licenses for your municipality and the type of work your project will entail. Copies of contractor insurance certificates and HICPA documentation are available upon request.

We also offer the convenience of the UDS Foundation’s internal construction service for situations when expediency is crucial, such as when renovations are needed to facilitate timely facility rehab or hospital discharges.

Funding Your Home Modifications

Any expenses related to the scope of work that are approved by your healthcare plan will be paid in full by the plan. You may contact your healthcare plan if you have questions about your plan’s coverage.
