About Shoot Out

What is it?

The Shoot Out is a basketball foul shooting fundraiser that UDS has done every year since 1988. Shoot Out has raised over $450,000 to support people with disabilities and their families in Lancaster County and surrounding communities.

When is it?

The official date is Saturday November 10, 2007 from 10-noon. This is the time that UDS asks Lancaster County schools to open their gyms to the public. It is not the only time or place that participants can shoot their foul shots.

Where is it?

Anyone who wants to participate can get a pledge sheet, take pledges and shoot their foul shots anywhere, including at home. Students may shoot their foul shots during gym classes if it is permitted. However, if participants want to go to a gym, various school gyms around Lancaster should be open on 11/10. Locations will be announced on the Shoot Out website.

How does it work?

Participants shoot 25 foul shots for pledges – either a flat amount or a pledge per shot. Pledges should be collected and mailed or turned in to UDS by Friday, November 30th.

Who can participate?

The Shoot Out is open to anyone of any age. We encourage businesses, social clubs, church groups, sports leagues or any other adult team to participate in addition to our student fundraisers.

Who does it benefit?

The Shoot Out benefits people with disabilities and their families served by five programs that are supported in all or in part by the Lancaster community. Those programs are:

• Aaron’s Acres camp for children with disabilities
• New Life Assistance Dogs
• CHOICES Adult Day program
• HILTOP pre-vocational school
• Adaptive Seating
