Adaptive SeatingUDS Adaptive Seating creates custom wheelchair seating systems. Each system is fitted, designed and fabricated for an individual client. The UDS Adaptive Seating team has over twenty years of experience taking care of people whose needs can’t be met by standard medical equipment. They offer services such as pressure mapping, custom molding, and every system is custom fabricated and fitted to the client. Their services are unique in the entire central Pennsylvania area. HILTOP Pre-Vocational ServicesThe UDS HILTOP Pre-Vocational program teaches individuals with disabilities the skills they need to live on their own, assists them in finding and maintaining housing and with pre-vocational training, assessment and eventual job placement. Using a classroom setting and one-on-one instruction, UDS HILTOP teaches persons with disabilities the basic skills they will need to maintain long-term employment and independent living. Some of the skills taught by the program are personal financial management, personal communication skills, stress management and problem solving techniques. The mission of UDS HILTOP is to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities through individualized instruction and job placement services. New Life Assistance DogsUDS New Life Assistance Dogs (NLAD) enables people with disabilities to live a more independent life through the use of a service dog. The dogs who graduate from the NLAD program have gone through several years of rigorous training and then a careful matching process with a human partner. They know a base of at least eighty commands such as turning lights on and off, retrieving items, opening and closing doors, and providing balance and support when needed. In addition, all the service dogs who graduate from the program have been screened for temperament, social skills and health. For more information about UDS New Life Assistance Dogs, contact:
CHOICESUDS CHOICES is a life skills day program for mentally alert adults with physical and other disabilities. The program’s goal is to touch individual lives in a way that enhances self-esteem, confidence, independence, decision-making skills and encourages personal growth. UDS CHOICES offers a variety of social, educational and recreational opportunities in both group and individual settings. Some of the program’s typical activities are concerts, art classes, field trips and educational classes and discussions. The goal of UDS CHOICES is to encourage people with disabilities to find, focus and use their talents.
